The bombing of the Vierville junction
7 June around 8 pm
Around 8:00 p.m. on June 7, the Vierville intersection was violently bombed by German field artillery (remembered of 155mm shell fire) which had found ammunition reserves and had probably retreated south of the National Road or on the Trévières side.

Significant damage was inflicted on the buildings in the centre, ammunition trucks jumped with a lot of vehicles, and three anti-aircraft guns were destroyed in the field north of the crossroads.
The 110th Artillery Battalion of Campaign (Battery B), which had just landed in Vierville to support the 115°Rég. On the way up from the beach, 18 men (killed, wounded, disappeared), two howitzers and three trucks were killed.
This was the time when large reinforcement units were climbing from the beach, including the 175th Reg. (page 54) (disembarked at 4:30 p.m. at St-Laurent) who was leaving to regroup in Gruchy before starting a night walk to La Cambe.
The night (7-8 June) was calm, apart from the snipers, some aerial bombardment, and artillery harassment.
