The author and his legacy
Yves Cordelle.
A documentary collection passed on.
Yves Cordelle created this website to collect and share documents about the Omaha Beach landings, particularly at Vierville-sur-Mer.
Maps, photographs, reports and recollections are brought together to describe the events. His grandson, Yohann Cordelle, is redesigning the site to make the collection easier to access and read on different screens.
A message to Yves
You can still leave him a message of thanks “in the beyond”, on the website created in his memory.

About the documents
The collection’s texts and captions are preserved. The spelling of names, the author’s wording, quotations and indications of uncertainty have not been rewritten to modernise the account.
The original contents page states that the information has not been updated since 2020. The redesigned presentation does not amount to a fresh historical verification of every document.
Where a file or reference is missing from the available copy, this is indicated. No document has been invented to fill those gaps.
A collection to preserve
Yves created the first website in 2006. Since October 2026, Yohann has been responsible for its continuation and redesign. Hosting, technical monitoring and regular improvements help keep it accessible.
